Bill Condon's Letter to Twilight Fans

Greetings Twihards, Twifans, Twilight Moms, Team Edward, Team Jacob and Team Switzerland,

I just want to say hello to all of you and let you know that I’m stoked to be getting underway on the adventure of making BREAKING DAWN. As you’ve probably heard, I’ve been given a very warm welcome by Stephenie and Team Summit – who are super-focused, as you know, on getting these movies right.

I’m pretty busy bringing myself up to speed on what you already know by heart: I’ve read BREAKING DAWN twice, rewatched Catherine’s and Chris’s movies 2-3 times each, have all four CDs playing in my car, and have Catherine’s notebook, Mark Cotta Vaz’s companion books, and even Volume 1 of the graphic novel here on my desk – a corner of my office is starting to look like Hot Topic. I realize that this barely qualifies me for “newborn” status in the universe you’ve been living inside for a few years now, but a guy’s gotta start somewhere.

Like many of you, I’ve always been slightly obsessed with vampires, dating back to the prime-time series DARK SHADOWS, which I followed avidly as a kid. But that alone hadn’t been enough to get me interested in making a vampire movie, even though my early screenwriting and directing efforts grew out of a great love for horror movies and thrillers. Since making GODS AND MONSTERS thirteen years ago, however, I’ve been yearning for a return to a story with Gothic overtones.

The wonderful world that Stephenie has created has obviously struck a chord with you, and I don’t think it’s difficult to see why. For me, her characters are simultaneously timeless, yet very modern. Rooted in a beautiful, real landscape with a great sense of place, Bella, Edward, Jacob, and the rest of the Forks/La Push menagerie, experience emotions that are primal, and universal: desire, despair, jealousy – and it all comes to fruition in BREAKING DAWN. This is a final chapter in the best sense; not just wide in scope and scale, but emotionally charged and intense throughout.

I’m a huge admirer of the already-iconic Kristen, Robert, and Taylor, and wanted to be the one to work with them as they face the challenges of bringing your beloved characters to the end of their journeys. Really, what could be more fun than that?

Please feel free to ask questions in the comments section below, and I’ll do my best to answer them. I hope that this will be the first of many occasions I’ll get to check in with you as we set to work bringing BREAKING DAWN to the screen. I am excited and grateful to have all of you alongside me for my TWILIGHT journey.

All best,

Bill Condon

P.S. Answer #1: No, there won’t be any musical numbers

Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Got Ranks in Many Lists

2nd day of Eclipse Reshoots

It’s a bit on the boring side since everything was inside a studio as Mandy reports.

“There isn’t much to report on today. It was all in studio. As I’ve mentioned n the past studio is great for the cast and crew because there is no public access. The downside of this for fans is no photos, information, etc.

Here is what I do know:

Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner started at 5am and wrapped at just after 9pm. Kristen Stewart left first, Taylor shortly after. It was a long day and it didn’t go as scheduled. It is not a studio they used before for either New Moon or Eclipse. Though Robert Pattinson was on set today he did not film as scheduled(photo of rob leaving the bar studio). Instead he was seen in the late afternoon at a bar on Commercial drive with good friend Sam Bradley having a bite to eat and a few beers.”

Check out the rest of the story on Mandy’s blog.

Do People Still Believe Robsten in their denial?

The third movie in the Twilight installment is going to be released in just a few months. Fans are still hoping to see the Twilight Lead Stars, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, together and just admit their relationship to the public..Here is what Ted Casablanca(Awful Truth) has to say:

Dear Ted:
I love all things Robsten but here is my beef. Do
Rob and Kristen honestly believe they are fooling anybody with their denial anymore? I get the feeling that the desire for secrecy is coming from Kristen and that if Rob had his way he would shout it from the rooftops because he is really proud of his girl. I may be way off base but it's just a vibe I get. What do you think, Ted?
—Tina

Dear In On It:
Of course they know you guys know they're a couple, but they also know that if they admit it you guys won't get as riled up about their so sneaky outings. Remember, they love watching you watch them, got it?

Breaking Dawn to be Filmed in October

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner may be reuniting this October to begin filming for the fourth and final Twilight Saga movie, Breaking Dawn. This, the most controversial of the books in the saga is sure to make an excellent movie.

It seems the production will start in October. But, we’re not supposed to know that. According to Ok! Magazine some of the Twilight cast members were making an appearnce at a Twi convention when ask about Breaking Dawn filming Boo Boo Stewart said we don’t know yet, but Christian Serratos, who plays Angela in the movies jumped in and said ‘No, October.’ Whoops. Until then the cast had been silent on when filming would start, probably in hopes that they could get some filming done before fans began to crowd the set.

While it’s been rumored that Breaking Dawn would begin production this Fall, it seems fans now have their confirmation. No word on where filming will be. The Twilight cast may be headed back to Canada. But one location won’t be able to work for all of the scenes in the movie which include a wedding, a birth, and many more juicy scenes. Recently fans have petitioned for Breaking Dawn to be rated R, but don’t get your hopes up, there are too many younger fans for that. What do you think?

Stephenie Meyer, One of the Producers of Breaking Dawn

In the official press release of Summit, they announced:
"Los Angeles, CA April 28, 2010 – Summit Entertainment has confirmed that Academy Award® winner Bill Condon will direct THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg, and will star Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt, and Stephenie Meyer will produce the project."

Breaking Dawn's Director: Oscar Winner Bill Condon!!!

"As reported earlier, Summit Entertainment has found its next “Twilight” filmmaker and now formally locked up Oscar-winner Bill Condon to direct “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.” While none of the stars have signed deals yet, the entire cast including Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are expected to return. This is possibly one reason the studio has not confirmed whether, as rumored, there will be one or two “Breaking Dawn” films.

“I’m very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book – and we’re hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience,” said Bill Condon.

The fourth book in Stephenie Meyer’s popular series chronicles Bella’s most advanced initiation into the vampire world to date, but is also seen by many as the most difficult to adapt of all the best-selling novels. Melissa Rosenberg, who adapted the first two novels, would continue in that role for “Dawn.” Stephenie Meyer has already met with Condon to discuss the project. She noted in the release, “I’m so thrilled that Bill wants to work with us. I think he’s going to be a great fit, and I’m excited to see what he does with the material.”

Erik Feig, President of Production and Acquisitions, for Summit Entertainment added, “Bringing Stephenie Meyer’s BREAKING DAWN to the screen requires a graceful and intelligent hand and we believe Bill Condon is exactly the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense creativity and subtle sensitivity.”

Condon is best known for directing and adapting the box office and critical hit “Dreamgirls” which was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won two including Best Supporting Actress for star Jennifer Hudson. The film also won the Golden Globe for Best Picture – Musical or Comedy and grossed $103 million at the U.S. box office. The filmmaker won his own Oscar in 1998 for Best Adapted Screenplay for “Gods and Monsters.” He was subsequently nominated again in the same category for “Chicago.” Condon also received a prestigious Director’s Guild of America Best Director nod for “Dreamgirls.” More impressive, besides Hudson’s breakthrough, he’s shepherded Oscar nominations for Ian McKellen (“Gods and Monsters”), Lynn Redgrave (“Gods and Monsters”) and Laura Linney (“Kinsey”). And for those concerned about Condon’s genre credentials, he’s more than happy to discuss directing 1995’s “Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh” to anyone who will ask. Most recently, Condon teamed up with producer Larry Mark to produce the 81st Academy Awards with host Hugh Jackman. That show received strong critical notices and was nominated for more Emmy Awards than any Oscar broadcast in history.

Upcoming projects for Condon include the potential HBO series “Tilda” starring Diane Keaton and inspired by notorious online entertainment blogger Nikki Finke. Condon will shoot the pilot for “Tilda” before “Breaking Dawn” begins prep early this summer. The fate of the long in the works “Richard Pryor” biopic and the recently announced drama “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen” is still unclear.

Catherine Hardwicke directed the first “Twilight” which was a surprise blockbuster grossing $384 million worldwide. The follow up, last fall’s “New Moon” was shepherded by fan favorite Chris Weitz and made an eye-popping $707 million worldwide. The third chapter, “Eclipse,” will hit theaters on June 30 under David Slade’s direction.

RoB Pattinson On the Way Back to Vancouver

PopSugar UK reports:
Robert Pattinson looked gorgeous and scruffy as he arrived at Heathrow Airport this afternoon in his cap, sunnies and jeans. He had his guitar case for company, but will no doubt be reunited with Kristen Stewart and the rest of the Twilight gang as the cast gather in Vancouver for Eclipse reshoots. We’ve already seen Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner make their way from LAX to Canada so it was only a matter of time until beautiful and rich Robert joined them.

What will happen to Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart after Twilight: Breaking Dawn?

With the insane hype surrounding anything with the Twilight series, I thought it would be fun to go through some of the series’ main stars and review what they’ve done and try and predict where they’re going. I want to be clear that I’m not a Twilight fan, but am going to attempt to clearly critique each star and the potential each of them possess. They’re huge now and every pre-teen girl loves them, but after THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE and the two TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN movies, the Twilight gravy train will be dry. It’s always nice to guess who will be the next Mark Hamill and who will be the next Harrison Ford.

So to start things off, we’ll look at the two main stars of the film; Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. After the Twilight series is over, neither of these stars will have to work again. They can spend their days watching soap operas and then hit up the Twilight conventions when they need money. But both of them seem to have a desire to have successful careers, but I’m not sure either will succeed.

KRISTEN STEWART

Before Twilight: Kristen was really the only Twilight alum to have a career before the series began. Others had done a movie or two, but she actually had some great performances in a variety of films. Her debut was in David Fincher’s PANIC ROOM where she played the sickly daughter of Jodie Foster. It was a great debut and she followed it up with a couple of kids movies and then as the troubled, tomboy in IN THE LAND OF WOMEN.

After Twilight: She continued to get roles that required her to play the quiet, whiny high-school girl in films like ADVENTURELAND and INTO THE WILD. She did well in both films, garnering some critical acclaim for each. But the most exciting non-Twilight role is in the upcoming THE RUNAWAYS where she plays Joan Jett. Aside from that, she continues to do the same types of roles and that could prove to be her downfall. Obviously, everyone gets old and she’s eventually going to have to stretch her talents to something more than playing a troubled teenager.

Prediction: It’s tough to gauge her acting talent because she’s milked the teenage-angst angle so much over the past five years. Her role in THE RUNAWAYS didn’t do as much for me as I was hoping and it was basically Bella, but with a butch hair cut. However, given her non-Twilight success already, I give her an 80% chance of being remembered 5 years after part 2 of BREAKING DAWN.

ROBERT PATTINSON

Before Twilight: Robert had the honor to have a key role in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Cedric Diggory. In what might be the weakest of the Potters, Bob Patty was actually the bright spot in the film.

After Twilight: Much like Stewart, Pattinson seems determined to play similar characters that are reserved and pouty. I was disappointed he chose to do REMEMBER ME and figured he would have chosen a role that could show off his acting chops and not something that cloned his Edward character.

Prediction: Pattinson’s biggest obstacle to making it as an A-list actor is his looks. I know that sounds strange, but the guy looks like a porcelain doll and I don’t think he’ll be playing any action heroes any time soon. That leaves serious dramas and love stories, which really limits what he can do. However, I can see him taking over the romantic comedy genre from Hugh Grant in a few years. Also, pre-teen girls are a finicky bunch and heartthrobs don’t tend to last very long. I give him a 40% chance of being relevant 5 years after BREAKING DAWN.

MTV on Eclipse TRailer

Many in the “Twilight” fan community thought they’d have to wait until this afternoon to see the brand-new “Eclipse” trailer on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” But Oprah posted it on her Web site as soon as her show aired in Chicago (at 9 a.m. CT). And now we can all determine whether this look at “Eclipse” gives us a clearer sense of the film than the first one.

Most important, this new trailer highlights the the violence of “Eclipse,” and a lot of it. While the first teaser focused on the love triangle between Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner), this one is all about the threat bad-girl vampire Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) is posing with her newborn vampire army.

The trailer kicks off with Jacob confronting Bella and Edward at their school. “Jacob, what are you doing?” Bella asks him. “I’m here to warn you,” he replies, adding as he looks at Edward, “She has a right to know.” The tension between the three of them is pronounced, setting up that dynamic without having to dedicate an entire trailer to it.

While Edward narrates the “situation in Seattle” for Bella, the trailer shows Riley being attacked by Victoria on the dark streets of the city. Continued shots of newborn vampires trashing cars and causing havoc are spliced with the Cullens planning their response. “Sounds pretty alarming,” Carlisle (Peter Facinelli) says.

Finally there are some clear shots of the new vampires climbing over what looks like an unused lumber yard and walking up to a body of water. Then there’s a close-up shot of Riley (Xavier Samuel), their leader. “They’re coming here,” Alice (Ashley Greene) foresees.

“This means an ugly fight, with lives lost,” Carlisle tells an unseen person, and then Jacob replies, “We’re in.” The next scene shows the werewolf pack walking out of the woods, for the first time showing the alliance between the vampires and werewolves. “As long as we get to kill some vampires,” Jacob adds while looking at Edward.

This trailer also shows the Volturi as a presiding force over the battle between the newborns and Cullen/Quileute team. It’s a bit surprising that the vampire elite have been featured so much in both trailers, considering they have a fairly small role in the actual novel. Fortunately, after their brief moment in the trailer, the much-hyped epic “Eclipse” battle is shown, and plenty of violence ensues.

In the midst of the final battle scene, a scene with Edward pressing an engagement ring into Bella’s hand is cut in, showing that the editors of this trailer didn’t forget the romance that accompanies the action-packed plot.

In the last 20 seconds of the trailer, Victoria runs away from Edward in the woods. Then we see the wolf pack leap into the fight, in a shot reminiscent of Jacob’s transformation at the end of the “New Moon” trailer.

Unlike the first “Eclipse” teaser, this newest trailer will give viewers an adequate idea of what they have to expect from the third installment of “The Twilight Saga.” Judging by the great action scenes shown in this newest video, “Eclipse” might convert some new fans to the “Saga” after all.

RPattz: Kristen Stewart is a ‘professional partner’

The ‘Twilight’ hunk insists Kristen Stewart is a ‘professional partner’ who makes his ‘every move, every sentence authentic.’

To avoid any further false report about his alleged romance with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson quickly dismissed rumor he has proposed to his co-star. “This engagement thing is total bulls**t, I don’t even know where it comes from. Kristen is my friend,” he said.

“I really like to work with her,” the British heartthrob explained more when having an interview with entertainmentandshowbiz.com. “She’s more mature than her age, a real professional, I couldn’t wish for a better partner, because she makes my every move, every sentence authentic.”

Repeatedly becoming a target of dating report, the Edward Cullen of “Twilight” movie series refused to let himself distracted by the gossip. He said, “My only weapon for self-defense is to not care about the rumors. I concentrate on my work and on the positive sides of fame.”

Robert Pattinson was previously reported to have purchased antique jewelry to be presented to Kristen Stewart and popped up the question to the movie beauty on her 20th birthday.

Although I don't believe the engagement Rumors.. I really get hurt when "Rob denies them being together.."

Kristen Stewart in People's Most Beautiful 2010 issue?

People’s Most Beautiful 2010 issue is on the way, and rumour has it, Kristen Stewart’s set to take a starring role.

The Twilight beauty has already earned a place in their Beautiful at Every Age section, along with a host of other stars, including Vanessa Hudgens, Amanda Seyfried, Demi Moore and Meryl Streep.

And she could well take a starring role in People’s hotly anticipated annual Most Beautiful issue, celebrating the brightest and most beautiful stars of the year.

The list is set to be announced on April 28, and we just can’t wait to see the results.

Last year’s issue featured a whole host of Hollywood hot stars, from Christina Applegate and Halle Berry, to Michelle Obama and Robert Pattinson.

A Look into the Newest Eclipse Trailer

When the first theatrical trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was revealed earlier this year, we talked about some of the things which thattrailer left off.

Included on the list were the newborns and the ring, and the new trailer for Eclipse has certainly satisfied those wants and more.

In fact, there were a whole bunch of new details, scenes, and words revealed in this trailer. Here are some of the most exciting ones:

  • Eclipse werewolves

Ever since Ashley Greene ("Alice Cullen") talked about doing ADR on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse andstated that the Eclipse werewolves bested those of New Moon, curiosity became peaked as to how the werewolves would look in the film. Thanks to the new trailer, we don't have to wonder about that any more, and we know that Greene was right. The new trailer shows a few separate snippets of the werewolves in action. In one particular instance, the werewolves are shown in combat with the newborn army. The effects are splendid-looking, and if there's more where that came from, bring it on!

  • Edward versus Jacob

The Edward versus Jacob dynamic in theTwilight series has always been of interest to me, as a Twilight fan, but with Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon that intensity of spirit was somewhat removed thanks to the physical separation of the two based on events. Eclipse, on the other hand, has always had that promise of bringing the conflict between the two front and center, and one of the scenes previewed by the new trailer gave us a glimpse of what that tension will be like. The sequence shown (in part) in the trailer is the one where Jacob confronts Edward and forces him to reveal the situation. One of the things I loved most about this moment in the trailer is how organically similar it was to the literary version of the scene. It was very acute and in tune with the feeling of the story. It really makes the conflict we have to look forward to in the film that much more exciting.

  • Newborn Mayhem

One of the things that we got to see a small portion of in the Eclipse sneak peek was the newborn army in action. In this trailer for Eclipse, it becomes clear that Riley and his army of newborn vampires are a focal point of this film. It was really interesting to see how intensified his character is going to be for the film version, and it was actually really exciting to see how much of Riley there is in this picture. The actor portraying Riley, Xavier Samuel, is talented and gives weight and importance to the role. Also, the scenery and intensity offered by Victoria, Riley, and the newborns will be a welcome addition to the story of Eclipse.

  • Cullen Central

If there was one thing most Twilight fans can agree upon about the series, it's that there is no such thing as too much Cullen. We already knew how much more face time the Cullen coven would get inThe Twilight Saga: Eclipse, but from the trailer we can rest easy in knowing that some of the most important moments involving them from the book won't be deserted for the film adaptation. Particularly, a scene where Carlisle and his family are strategizing about the Seattle situation was seen in the trailer, and this was an important moment from the book that seems to have been translated pretty faithfully onto film. Also, in the training and battle sequences included in the final trailer, one can tell that the Cullens' fighting sequences (did you see Alice's backflip?) are going to be e-p-i-c. Which leads me to my next point . . .

  • Special Effects

Clearly, the special effects department for Eclipse was amply prepared for what they had to deliver. In the trailer alone, we got to see several stunts and special effects, including Victoria and a massive tree falling, the meeting and battle of the newborns and the Cullens, and the werewolves at work. While New Moon took a giant step above Twilight in the FX department, Eclipse seems to be taking a very literal leap. Unbelievably exciting.

  • Exhilirating Score

Just this week, David Slade stated that there were "no words to describe" the score that Howard Shore composed in England, and if the sample offered by the trailer is any indication, he was very, very right. Not only was the score so plainly and vividly aligned with the activity of the film, but it was also a feature all its own. The shrill violin work used in the trailer music alone was enough to take the imagery to another level. So far, so good.

  • The Ring

In the first trailer, we got to hear the words used by Edward in his proposal to Bella. In this one, we got to see the ring. From the looks of it, the ring was very faithfully inspired by Stephenie Meyer's book description of it as well as popular interpretation of that look. No doubt, Meyer herself had a hand in selecting the perfect prop for this moment.

Overall, the trailer revealed the pitch perfect temperament and mood for this film, and it certainly leftTwilight fans thirsty for more. Above all else, it leaves us confidence that the film really will juxtapose the sweetness of the love story with the might of the action end. What was your favorite part and why?

MTV:'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' Soundtrack: Who Will Make The Cut?

When it comes to the "Twilight Saga," the soudtracks are almost as anticipated as the films themselves. And with the "Eclipse" soundtrack set for release on June 8, many fans are wondering which artists made the cut.

Adam Lambert had hoped that his song "Suburban Decay" could find a home on the soundtrack. He told MTV News that it could be the perfect tune to further elaborate the love story between Bella and Jacob. "It's a great song and I hope to perform it someday, and I think it will find a home on a soundtrack or something ... maybe 'Twilight,' " he said. "It just didn't quite fit [in my album]. It's very theatrical. ... It's very campy, and it was just a bit too campy for the album as a big picture."

Like Lambert, Brooklyn, New York, band Care Bears on Fire would love to get their song on the soundtrack. "Oh my God! It would sound awesome," bandmate Izzy said. "[It would sound] vampire-y, duh — or werewolf-y, depending. I'd kind of like to be vampire. I feel like that's more our sound."

nd while these artists are hoping they'll have their shot, Muse have already hinted that after appearances on the first twol films' soundtracks, they may take up space on the third installment as well. "It's great to have the feeling of being a new band again in so many people's eyes or minds ... we might even do something for the third one," drummer Dominic Howard said.

"['Eclipse' director David Slade is] kind of a friend of ours 'cause he directed about three or four of our videos for the second album, and he's a really great video director," Howard further explained. "I know he did that really great kind of sick horror [film '30 Days of Night'] which was a bit of a vampire/zombie vibe, wasn't it? So I think he's a great director, and he's quite a funny character as well. So, yeah, we might do something for him as well."

Paramore appeared on the first soundtrack and passed up the chance to be on the second, but they wouldn't rule out taking a stab at writing a song for "Eclipse." "We'll see what happens in the future," frontwoman Hayley Williams said. "I don't know — if it feels genuine. If we write a song, and I feel like it goes with it, I wouldn't turn it down, but I wouldn't force it."

Eclipse-Inspired Clothing to Hit Stores!

Nordstrom is also planning advance screenings, cast member appearances and Twilight Takeover parties. Since Twilight fever swept the nation, we’ve had our eyes fixed on Kristen Stewart’s wardrobe. Off-duty, however, Kristen quickly ditches the heels and minis in favour of jeans and Converse. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart engaged?

There have been many rumors that have been going around that Robert Pattinson just asked for Kristen Stewart's hand in Budapest. This story came down when the two were spotted leaving the airport together. Kstew seemed to fly to Budapest to see RPattz for her 20th birthday. After that, there seemed to be another round of rumor. The said engagement was just a joke.

“According to News of The World newspaper (Via Gather), Kristen Stewart has told them she was asked for her hand in marriage.

“As a joke, though. Well, at least I think so!” she told the newspaper.”
